Q&A - A sit down with classic bmx owner/rider Matt Sedlak

What inspires you to compete?

its the thrill you get riding with and against people from all over. its not only an opportunity to show off what your about and what you can do, its also an opportunity to make new freinds.

Why do you like this sport?

bmx is my life, i have been riding all my life. its something that when i am on my bike, i feel like i can achieve anything, my head is clear, i am at one.. some would say..lol any time i get down.. i ride, it helps me, its almost like a therapy for me.. now i have my own bike company called classic bmx, we are pretty much a crew of riders that like to ride. i gave us the name classic bmx from my portfolio ad i made back in 2003. we are more of a crew than a company, but its fun. i picked up some great sponosrs to help me race this year, which is great. i got some of the classic crew inspired toride harder this year. hoping to attract more sponsors as time goes on. and in addition to all that. i got a skatepark in the works, with backing of a local judge, i am gonna be putting in a proposition to have a skatepark built in my area. so a lot of exciting stuff.. is my way of thanking the sport and all the people who i looked up to and future riders.. also i wanna give a thanks and shout out to my sponsors ODI, Six Feet Deep Clothing, and Live Wire Energy. They gave me an opportunity and i am greatful and thankful for it. i am also glad to be riding for mx optics, and Evomo as well. looking forward to a great 2010 season.

Describe your style...

i have really no specific style.. i ride left footed. even though i am right handed. i also like to ride with short bars, many people tell me to race with wider bars for elbow room, but i feel i have more control with shorter bars. shorter bars = more control = more speed. :) but with my new ride. i am gonan keep the bars long.. gonna see how it goes this year. i am using longer grips (thank you ODI sponsorship, long neck grips are the best!)so we'll see hwo it works out. i am confident that i will do well.

Music?

i like all sorts of stuff. mostly symphonic metal, bands like kamelot, sonata arctica, serentity, type-o negative. i also love bands like hatebreed and agnostic front.

Employment / Experience Summary

i have a degree in graphic design and animation,I am currently employed at a sign shop to help pay the bills and handle expenses...i am gonna be taking online courses in the spring to get a bachleors degree in advertising and design. we are gonna see hwo that worls out. with racing.work and my art going on. plus i gotta spend time with people close to me, my friends, family and such.
